FAQs

Why ride an Ebike?

An Ebike will put the fun back into your ride allowing you to travel with ease, go further, climb hills easier, and keep up with the crowd.

How far can I travel on an Ebike?

The distance you can travel on an Ebike can vary greatly and is dependent on many factors, such as the weight of the rider, the load being conveyed, the terrain being ridden on and the riders choice of power assistance. On average you will achieve at least 20 miles per charge, in tests the bikes were ridden for over 30 miles on a single charge.

What are the health benefits of riding an Ebike?

Research has shown that cyclists have a fitness level of a person 10 years younger and will be more likely to live an active life for longer. As using an ebike delivers a low impact form of exercise and can help you get fitter.

Can I hire a spare battery?

Yes you can (on compatible bikes), we offer spare batteries for only £30 extra. We recommend that you collect the spare battery while your having your lunch. There are a few reasons for this, 1 the batteries weigh up to 4kg which is heavy and lugging the extra weight of the battery around with you is counter productive. 2 The batteries are large and do not fit well in regular backpacks, if you had a fall with one in your bag it would not be pleasant. 3 Some of the batteries are tricky to change over and require some tools. By returning to the hotel you can grab a drink while we take care of giving the bikes 100% battery again.

Are Ebikes Cheating?

Absolutely not! What would you be cheating at? Having fun? Getting exercise? Show me this rule book. You will go further, faster and have the best time you’ve ever had on a bike!

If I enjoy the Ebike that I have hired can I buy it?

No*, Our business model does not rely on selling high end premium bikes , so no pushy sales, we just want everyone to find out just how amazing Ebikes are.

*Occasionally we sell ex hire bikes, keep an eye out on our facebook page for them being listed. they generally don’t hang around very long.

Can I hire a bike for longer periods?

Yes, you can hire the bikes for multiple days , a passport must be left as a deposit for the duration of the hire. It will be stored in our safe. If you transport the bike away from Glentress, you will need to ensure the bike is safely stored, and be aware that very limited support will be available if an issue occurs.

Does the bike get charged as I am pedalling?

Unfortunately not, the current laws of physics make it a fruitless endeavour. Technology has not yet reached that level of sophistication, the current model range of bikes are fitted with a Lithium-Ion battery that is charged via a mains powered smart charger.
